Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Tarangire National Park
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you’ll be met by your safari guide and transferred to Tarangire National Park. This park is renowned for its large population of elephants and iconic baobab trees. Enjoy an afternoon game drive, where you’ll have the opportunity to spot herds of elephants, giraffes, and various bird species. Overnight at a lodge or campsite in or near the park.
Day 2: Full Day in Tarangire National Park
Spend a full day exploring Tarangire. You can embark on morning and afternoon game drives to maximize your wildlife viewing opportunities. The park’s diverse landscapes, including swamps and savannahs, provide excellent chances to see predators like lions and leopards, as well as large herds of buffalo and antelope. Return to your lodge or campsite for an evening relaxation.
Day 3: Transfer to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, depart for Serengeti National Park. En route, you’ll stop at the Ngorongoro Crater for a brief visit if time allows. Once you reach Serengeti, begin your game drive in one of the world’s most famous wildlife habitats. Serengeti’s endless plains are home to a vast array of animals, including the Big Five (lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant, and rhinoceros). Enjoy a sunset game drive before heading to your lodge or campsite.
Day 4: Full Day in Serengeti National Park
Dedicate a full day to exploring the Serengeti. Early morning and late afternoon game drives offer the best chances to see wildlife when they are most active. Depending on the season, you might witness the Great Migration, where millions of wildebeest and zebras traverse the plains in search of fresh grazing grounds. Return to your lodge or campsite for dinner and relaxation.
Day 5: Transfer to Ngorongoro Crater and Departure
Depart from Serengeti and drive to the Ngorongoro Crater. The crater is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and offers a unique opportunity to see a variety of wildlife in a relatively small area. Spend the day exploring the crater floor, where you may encounter black rhinos, lions, and flamingos in the soda lakes. In the afternoon, begin your journey back to Arusha or Kilimanjaro Airport for your departure flight.
